When is the best time to have Newborn photos taken?

There is nothing quite like holding a newborn in your arms for the first time. It is a magical moment. So it's no wonder that newborn photos are so popular. Capturing the beauty of a newborn preserves a memory for a lifetime. But is there a time when newborns photograph better than other times? The answer is yes.

The best time to photograph a newborn is during their first week and a half. One of the biggest reasons for this is that they develop their baby acne around week 2. During the first week or so babies still have soft smooth skin. If you wait until after their baby acne is cleared, they won't look like a newborn anymore. Anytime during their first week, the still look like they do on their first day. During the first week they also respond well to being swaddled and still sleep a lot, which makes photographing and posing more fun.

There are multiple options for having your newborn's photos done during their first week. Some photographers will come to the hospital and take photos right in your room. Others will travel to your home and others have studios specifically for newborns. Whichever way you go, but sure to choose an experienced photographer who will not only take beautiful photos, but will be safe and gentle with you and your newborn.
